As we journey through the blessings of the advent season to Christmas, we are reminded of a promise and proclamation from Isaiah: Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. (Isaiah 40:1)

How do we receive comfort? God graciously gives us many blessings, as we place our faith in him. These seven blessings are given to you for your comfort and joy.

Seven Blessings

Love. The love God gives us is unconditional. He gives it to us simply because he wants to. It is who he is. It is also infinite – he never runs out of this love. And it is transformational – it will change who we are as we allow this love to saturate our lives.

Reconciliation. Since sin has destroyed the possibility of living in peace with God, he gives us the gift of reconciliation whereby we enjoy sweet fellowship with him. We can live in perfect relationship with our Creator. Ultimately that reconciliation extends to all God’s people as well!

Being cherished. We are God’s treasure regardless of our sins and failures and in spite of our failures. He makes us feel like we are his most treasured possession.

Freedom from guilt. There is guilt associated with sin and failure. God’s grace sets us free from this guilt! We can live lives free from all forms of guilt.

Freedom from worry. We don’t have to worry about tomorrow or eternity or about life in general. Worry can load down our lives and cause much pain and hurt. We don’t have to live that way!

Freedom from doubt. We can be absolutely certain about our future. It doesn’t mean we know what will happen. Freedom from doubt means we are sure of the promises of God that protect our future. We have no doubts about our salvation or God’s good intentions for us!

Freedom from the orphan mentality. We live in a world of broken lives and families. Many suffer from feelings of unworthiness and of not being wanted. God has adopted us into his family. We are wanted. We are loved. And we don’t have to prove ourselves to anyone!

These great blessings are given to you by God today. Please take the time to heed the words of the Psalmist:
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all your wonderful deeds. (Psalm 9:1 – ESV)

I want to wish you all God’s blessings during this Christmas Season! Remember that he loves you with an infinite and unconditional love – and he will never stop!
